Your Safety
Madang is a relatively safe place to explore by day. The local residents, whilst usually reserved around tourists, are generally friendly and helpful when approached.
It is not safe to walk around the township in the evenings and it is strongly recommended that tourists visiting the area do not leave their hotel after 6.00pm.
If needing to, tourists should have a private driver pre-arranged to take them to their destination and collect them.
There are taxis available in Madang, however for the guests’ safety it is strongly recommended that transportation is organised with our resort team.
For guests staying at Madang Resort, there is the option of dining at Haus Win which features alfresco dining along the waterfront and a cocktail bar; or the fully air-conditioned Haus Kibung with sunset views of the Dallman Passage and swimming pool.
Guests also enjoy complimentary membership to the Madang Country Golf Club during their stay.
We also advise travellers to respect Papua New Guinea culture and keep their dress code to a conservative nature.
